Homework Page

Homework is assigned daily, so this year you will not see the homework here in advance.  I will add to it each day, but it is your student's responsibility to write it down daily.

Week of  April 8  -  April 12
Monday:    Library tomorrow - bring back your books
Reading:  Read for 20 - 30 minutes each weekday after school.  Add the number of pages you have read to your April reading log and the title of the book(s) you read that day.
Math:  We have several groups now.  Students know which group they are in.
Group 1 = wb page 185 / 186  Group 2: 201 / 202  Group 3: 213/214
Group 4: 233/ 234

Spelling:  Today, write each word in your group three (3) times each

Vocabulary:  Today, write the definitions for each word from your reader textbook.  Most students finished this in class.  This week's words are:

 Grammar:  A grammar packet of verbs has gone home today.  The entire pack must be completed and signed by a parent and returned by this Friday.
Science:  Over the spring break, there was Science homework assigned by Mr. Blaine.  The following students did not complete it and must today for credit:  Armando, Noah, India, Marissa, and Jasmine.
Other:  A field trip permission slip went home today.  This must be signed and returned no later than Wednesday if you wish to attend the Hairspray musical.  I can only take 4 chaperones.  We are walking.
 
Tuesday:                                                                                                
Reading:  Read for 20 - 30 minutes each weekday after school. Add the number of pages you have read to your April reading log and the title of the book(s) you read that day.  
Spelling:
Write each word in abc (alphabetical) order
Math:  Group 1: textbook practice test pages 330 and 331 
Group 2: workbook pages 203 / 204 Area of Squares and Rectangles
Group 3: workbook pages  215 / 216 Interpreting graphs
Group 4: workbook pages 235 / 236 Addition/Subtraction patterns and equations
Grammar:  A grammar packet of papers went home Monday.  Continue working on this and turn it in by this Friday, signed by a parent.  Don't wait until Thursday to begin this assignment.  Smart students pace themselves.
 
Other: Field trip permission slips for the Hairspray musical are due no later than tomorrow.  tomorrow's field trip will not require you to bring a bag lunch because we will return by lunchtime, but you may wish to bring a throw away snack.
Wednesday:
Reading:  Read for 20 - 30 minutes each weekday after school. Add the number of pages you have read to your reading log and the title of the book(s) you read that day. 
Spelling: Group 1:  practice book pages 315/316
Group 2:  pyramid spelling
Vocabulary:  Complete practice book page 309
Writing:  Answer the following questions:
1) Why is Gloria Estefan a hero?
2) Why is Tracy Turnblad a hero?
Grammar:  Continue to work on the grammar packet that is due Friday
Other:  Wednesday folders - bring back tomorrow.  
Thursday:                                                                          
Reading:  Read for 20 - 30 minutes each weekday after school. Add the number of pages you have read to your reading log and the title of the book(s) you read that day.  
Spelling: Take a practice test and get a parent signature on it.  If you misspell any word, rewrite that word 5 times correctly.
Math;Group 1: workbook pages 189 / 190 Understanding Integres
Group 2: workbook page  205 / 206 Area of Irregular shapes
Group 3: workbook pages  217 / 218 Line Plots
Group 4:  workbook pages 237 / 238 Mult/Div patterns and equations
Grammar:  You grammar packet is due tomorrow.  This was passed out on Monday.
Science:  This is assigned by Ms. Pacada  It is due to me by Tomorrow.
Other:  SuperKid this week is Armando. Bring in your posters and any sharing you would like to do with the class.

Spelling:
  These are not this week's words, but complete practice book pages 307/308
Reading:   Read practice book page 312 (Making Judgements), then complete and return page 313 only
Writing:  For both writing and vocabulary challenge, write a short story using all seven of this week's vocabulary words correctly.  Make sure your story has a beginning, middle, and end, and uses lots of good descriptive language.  Do your best and write it in cursive.
Vocabulary:  See writing above
Grammar:  Get the "pronoun" worksheet from your teacher
Math:   Group 1: "Connection Detection" and "How Many Are There?"
Group 2:  "All the Way Around" and "Applause"
Group 3:  "Graphing True or False" and "Life of a Hamster"
Group 4:  "Cricket Weather" and "Tournament Time"
Science:   Complete any or all of pages 43 - 48 in your study guide
Social Studies:  Complete lesson 2 "How and Why Did People Travel to California? pages 71 - 74 in your Social Studies workbook.
